Getting ready to build a ar-15 based on the a4(flat top) platform but, with the a1 Vietnam style triangle hand guards. My question is will those hand guards fit a 16" mid length? Or do I need a 20" standard length? The hand guards measure a foot long.

That's a good question there. I've got a friend at work and I'll ask him about that. Very Happy

I asked and he said he was not sure. I'll have to ask another guy Thursday night when I go in. The only thing that holds it on is the screw on collar at the base right, or is there another one near the sights on the other end of the guard? I have not paid enough attention to them to notice. Very Happy

Hmm. Unfortunately, I'm not at all familiar with AR's. I also have a friend that is, and maybe he knows. I can give him a call. I'll get back to you here, if he can help.

there is a cap on the sight end, whats going to determine is the mid length, uses an odd ball length handguard that is unique to them. Longer than carbine handguards but shorter than the rifle. In order to use those hand guards, I need a 20" barrel. I will be giving del-ton a call next month or so. Ill post my build pictures.

I'd love to see the finished rifle! Sounds like a good project.

Glad you figured that out. I'll pass it along. And let me know if you find another set of those, so I can build me one too. Very Happy
