Bristol Bound!

Post  dmw56 on Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:01 am

Only 2 more weeks and we're going to Bristol. I can't wait.

What are you other guys favorite track! I've only been to 5 so far but I'm checking them off the list slowly. I do prefer the short tracks and road courses.

Went to Vegas last week. Was the 1st one I have ever been to. What a blast. Had been to Las Veges Moter Speedway before just not when Nascar was there. Think I like playing better than watching but hope to make it back next year.

Yeah, for those that say they don't like racing, then need someone to drag them to a race. I've done it to a couple old friends and they loved once they got there. Have to admit it was a local dirt track though. Still lots of fun for the beginners .... lol. Very Happy

I try to go to a NASCAR race every year. Might go to Phoenix this fall, we'll see. When we lived in CA we would go to Sear Point every year. We also lived 30 miles from Laguna Seca and watched a bunch different types of races there. My favorite was the Vintage racing at both Laguna Seca and Sears Point. I loved to watch the Trans Am cars run. Always want to make a clone Trans Am racer.

I have a hard time watching short track dirt racing having done it for 12 years. I get this terrible itch and start jonesing!! I am racing in an endurance go kart league (300 lap race) at a local indoor track not quite the same but much less $$$$$$ and you don't have to fix it when you break it.

Have fun on the trip and be safe. Look forward to some pics. And yes, the winner sucks, but what can you do. I always liked Bristol and then they had to screw it up with that mutli banking so they can run side by side. That aint racing, bring back the single groove bump and runs. Now that's racing. Very Happy

Yeah, Bristol sure isn't like it used to be. The race is more like a superspeedway now. 2 lines of racing no where near the contact and passing as it used to be. All in all still had a great time there. Beautiful country, friendly people, great food, great weather, what else could you ask for.

Hey, it's Tn. and in the south, would you expect anything less .... lol. Glad you enjoyed it. No cot pics? You know, I have not been to a race since they swapped over to the new junk they run now. If it was me, I'd take the good parts of the new cars and put them into the old cars. Like the big green house and safety features, but make them look like real cars that handle correctly. Best of both worlds in my opinion. Then I'd go back to Bristol and make them repave it with the old banking back into it. And I'd make more 3/4 or less short tracks with stadium seating like Bristol. I'd build them with a large garage area and make all the transporters park outside in a special area with shuttles for each team to use for unloading and in case them need something during a race. What do you think? Very Happy

We managed to miss most of it. It mostly went north of us. We got some good rain and thunder and lightening from it, that's about it. Man, that snow must have been a rude awakening after being up here in 60 and 70 degree weather.
