Was wondering how the price of ammo was doing in the rest of the country? Here in Idaho it is outragous an they didnt have two of the calabors I wanted. They might not get my guns but getting ammo is becoming a serious problem. What do you guys think?

I paid 1.97 for 50 .22 shells at Wal Mart. Bricks of 500 cost around $25 if you can find them. I used to get those for $10.

20 7.62x39's cost me $15 and $28 for 40. Used to get 20 for $6 or $7.

Can't find any .357 or .45's. Or for that matter 9,10 or .40. Even .380 is hard to find. I can find plenty of off caliber rifle cartridges though.

I don't have it beside me right now, but I just got a Cabella's book yesterday. They have a specific one just for shooters. They had some good deals in there. What are you looking for? I can get you some of the prices in there. For instance I found a 2100 rd brick of .22 with a dry case for right at $70. I'm going to get them and some 7.62x39 and .45 from them as well.

Was looking for 45 long colt an 280. Used to be able to get right off the shelf at drug store. Sure they probably have them at one off the bigger stores toward Boise. Cant believe the prices though.

I saw some long Colt in there. I'll look it up for you and post a price when I get a chance. I showed it to a friend at work that has two gun safes full of all sorts of things and he saw some good prices in there, especially in bulk. I intend to place an order pretty soon myself.

Yeah, I wished. They do seem to have some good prices on other ammo though. They beat most of my local stores on stuff. Especially in bulk buys.

You don't think the ammo manufacturers aren't taking full advatage of the current situation. They like the prices right where they're at "high" They've created a false shortage due the Obama/Dem scare and will continue to reap in the bucks. They are no better than the gas companies.

Dont think the prices are going to get any better. Heard talk that we are going to loose some kinds of ammo all together but dont know how true that is. Just seems like we loose a little piece of our freedom everyday

you could reload, it would be cheaper in the long run. That way you can customize your loads and save money.

Got tons of suff around just seems like I never get around to reloading. We might all have to reload in the future weather we like it or not.

I told a friend of mine that I was going to buy me one of these cap and ball Colts. That way I'd be set if I can't find ammo for my other guns. I told him, can you imagine me crawling through junk yards pulling tire weights off of car tires to melt down for bullets. LOL!!

Noticed the other day my Wal Mart has .22 550 rd for about $17 now. They also went from you can buy 6 boxes down to you can buy 3 boxes. Still shy on handgun ammo. Seem to have plenty of hunting rifle calibers available though. Wonder how much longer this will go on.

Heard someone include the fact that the war requires a lot of ammo and that helps to cause the shortage. I guess they do need the powder and brass and lead, but I don't think they are using .22's or .357 or 45's. Too cold to shoot outside now, but I have a couple indoor ranges available that I can go to if the need hits me.
