Yeah, you have to have the 20" barrel to use that fore stock. Actually tx-rampower found the answer. Thanks for checking into it though. If it's a head space problem, what can be done to fix it if anything? Very Happy

If you don't have enough headspace, the barrell needs to be unthreaded and properly set. (What I suspect since you cannot fully close the bolt). I believe shims can be used for this, but proper machining is better.
If a gun has too much, then machining is required to bring the barrell closer to the receiver and bolt. (Assuming there are no shims already in place that can be removed.)

From my (admittedly NOT vast knowledge), I believe this to be correct. That's also assuming there is no other damage to the gun that may be a contributing factor.

I think I'd rather have proper machine work done to avoid shims though, especially if it's a nicer rifle. Just makes for a better performing gun. (And cleaner looking too)

I can't tell it's every been apart. I'll just have to get it to a smith and see then. I'm going to check later and see if that first box of shells and the spent cases are shorter than the new live rounds I have. Wonder if someone shortened the case and reloaded some just to see if they could shoot the gun instead of fixing it. Rolling Eyes

Are you sure there isnt any grease stuck in your barrel or bolt area??? Make sure you dont spend a lot of money on this surplus rifle. They sell for $75 at least in my area. Back to the ar question.

Yes in order to use the a1 triangle hand guards, the rifle gas chamber/upper must be 20" in other words full length. A 16" mid length wont work, their there own funky size. Now if your lucky they did make a CAR tri angle guard that will work on a shorter barrel(CAR) length. Dont rush out and buy a kit and lower, let the dust settle and watch the prices fall a bit.

It's clean. And this rifle sells for a little more than that. It's a 1915 numbers matching. I wont put too much more in it though. Very Happy
And I found Colt AR with the triangle grip on it already. hehehe.

I'm not sure. Wished I had the extra money to pick it up. If I did, it would have went home Friday. Very Happy
