Welding in new floor Empty Welding in new floor

I had to replace the front floor halves on my project 1970 Satellite. I've done some reading on this, but wanted to ask here. Does the floor have to be welded solid inside and out? I've been told that it's not necessary unless you want a very stiff car for a certain purpose. Example, a big horsepower engine. This car is getting its original 318 rebuilt pretty much stock. So I dont think welding solid is required. Please let me know if anyone has infound on this.

Just weld it solid on the inside.
