Petty Paint Question
I just recently picked up a new body for my Traxxas E-Revo to use as a pavement body and have decided to try a Petty/STP style light blue/florescent red/white paint scheme on it that would be somewhat inspired by this car. The body is Proline's new Slipstream body for the E-Revo and here's a few pics of it painted and of the one I'm going to paint...
There's

Mine as of right now.
and yes, that extra plastic on the front is staying as an air dam, the wing will be replaced with either a white plastic or a faux carbon fiber print called Exo-Carbon (or as I call it Carbon Fibber ) The wheels will by Traxxas 1/2" offset White Dish wheels (widens track by 1") and another set of the stock Talon tires.
Since I don't know of an easily aquired lexan compatible Petty Blue, the closest I can find is Model Master's AMC Big Bad Blue two stage lacquer, here's a pic of a friends "Ambush" (unlicensed IH Scout) scale crawler in the same color and a link to Testor's web page

As for the red, the closest I can find in lexan compatible is Pactra's Florescent Racing Red, which is a bit orange and all I have is this picture from Tower Hobbies for that.

Re: Petty Paint Question
Check this guy out and see if he can mix you something that will work. He did the Bullitt green for me. Pretty nice match too and it requires no clear coat.

Re: Petty Paint Question
Thanks for the link David, unfortunetly that paint won't work, it needs to be a more traditional Acrylic or a full on lacquer to work on lexan. Enamels and weak lacquers (like Tamiya for Plastic and Testors One Coat) have a tendancy to flake back off the lexan under use. Believe it or not, that body to the left in the pictures I took is painted with Mopar Parts spray touchup paint and has had the living crap beat out of it with little paint flake. I've picked up the HPI '69 Charger body for this class of truck that I'm planning on painting with that same shade of green then going over the bumper, grill, and blower with Alclad spray chrome.

Re: Petty Paint Question
What about taking an Acrylic Enamel and adding an automotive flex agent like they use on rubber bumpers so that paint wont flake and chip off? Sounds doable. Just thinking out loud I guess. I'm brain dead right now anyways, I just wasted an hour and 40 min watching Robo Cop and the cops driving those lame arse Ford Taurus for police cars.
Re: Petty Paint Question
I ended up just spraying Big Bad Blue and will add Traxxas nameplate decales to the "bedsides" and the chin spoiler once they come in.
I also managed to kill the camera while trying to record some video of it with the current gearing and old body, wheels, and tires
Apparently Kodak didn't make the camera to get hit buy a 10lbs rc truck sliding sideways somewhere around 20mph on sealcoat
