kickdown rod adjustment

How is this adjusted the right way? On the 727.

Back off the adjuster bolt on the kickdown linkage arm on the side of the trans so it slides easily back and forth on the rod. Then take your finger and push the rod all the way forward (front of the car) as far as it goes then push the arm all the way to a forward position. Then, simply tighten the bolt down at that position and your done. You can fine tune the adjustment to change the shift points if need be, but don't move it much.
