1971 Dodge Challenger "Deputy"
Here's my 71 Dodge Challenger. Originally a Challenger Deputy a low cost bare bones Challenger. Not many people have ever heard of a Deputy. Production for 71 was ~2400 units. Base engine was the slant 6 with 3 speed but could be ordered with the 383, 4 Speed only 8 were built. This is a Coupe not a hard top. The rear quarter windows do not roll down. The Deputy came with the Cuda seats as standard. Which this still has.
My was ordered with the 318 and 904, plus most of the options that were deleted from the Deputy model. Including power front disc brake, Ralley suspension, center console, vinyl top, radio, and others items.
When I got this one the previous owner had installed a 340 and 4 speed with RT stripes and the Power Bulge hood. I put on the T/A chin and trunk spoilers and flip top gas cap.
I may one day return this back to an original Deputy because of its rarity.

Looks great. I'd restore it back to Deputy status though. And is that the props of an Auspry (sp) in the back ground on that 3rd pic??

All I'd have to do is change the hood, convert back to auto, and take the stripes and spoilers off.
Yes, that is an Osprey. Interesting Aircraft, they have a bunch based here at Kirtland AFB where that car show was held. They had an Osprey, a Huey and a Cobra and some military vehicles. Oh, the white Mustang is mine also.

Yeah it's strange and ugly plane in a cute sort of way ... lol. I've seen them on tv and you tube, but not up close yet. Have not been to an air show in years. Never seem to have the time or money when they come around or I'm at work. Maybe I'll get to see one up close someday.

If you're ever in ABQ, good chance you'll see one.

I've never been west of Memphis to tell you the truth. Maybe someday. There's some race in the desert, but I think it's around Arizona maybe. They run it on the streets out in the middle of nowhere. I'll have to see if I can find the link to that. I'd like to try that some day.

That's probably the one in Eloy, AZ and you have to go through NM to get there. Just get on I40 and go West Young Man!

You know, I'm going to have to do that one of these days before I get to old to enjoy it. Let's see, I've been to Ind. Ohio,Kentucky, both Carolina's, Ga. Ala. and Fla. so far. 8 out of 50 does not sound all that grand ... lol.
Re: 1971 Dodge Challenger "Deputy"
Speaking of I40 I have a movie fav that was supposed to be shot on the road many years ago when I was a little kid. Do you know the movie "Convoy" with Chris Kristoferson and Ernest Borgnine?
Re: 1971 Dodge Challenger "Deputy"
Matter of fact, here's a couple pics from that movie and this is supposed to be I40. Recognizes any of it?

10-4 Rubber Duck. That looks like White Sands down by Alamagordo. Which would be I25.

nice challenger
i really love the old look of the challenger than the recent ones it give more authentic feel and look when you see the interior and exterior of the car.
i also look at the new series of the challenger lately i helped my friend on checking out his challenger.
it was a 2009 dodge challenger spark plug needs to be replaced and also clean the car. he sometimes agree with me also that he also like the old look of the challenger.
guess seeing one of them on the road is a rare sight to see.

It's rare, but you do seem them every now and then. Mostly going to or from a show though. Cost too much to restore them, so many do not drive them much. Wished I have never got rid of my '70 R/T.

i imagine what the costs would be. must be a wallet burner... but still what got me on this one is the color of it.
